We would love to say that we are impressed with the line-up but we are not. Let’s be honest – it’s mostly mainstream EDM here.
Chemical Brothers used to be the flagmans of electronic music but they are not anymore. Pendulum started as a proper drum&bass crew but recently converted to teenager rock band. Chase & Status is quality but definitely not originality.
We are happy, however, to see Asian artists in the line-up such as Arjun Vagale (Jalabee Cartel) who gave us an interview recently. It seems that we should expect more quality EDM from Asian artists rather than from international headliners this time.
It’s a pity that Future Entertainment (organizers of the festival) decided not to bring any underground artists which they always did (Sven Vath and Dubfire to name a few) for their original Australian gigs. Perhaps they decided that Malaysian scene is not ready for this? ;-(
